Her lecture will explore how scientific inquiry can be enriched by Indigenous ecological knowledge rooted in observation, experience, and ethical responsibility.She will reflect on what plants and ecosystems can teach us about resilience, interdependence, and gratitude — and how, as detailed in her book The Serviceberry, practices of reciprocity can guide more sustainable and meaningful relationships with the living world. Blending science, story, and reflection, her talk invites us to see the environment not as a collection of resources, but as a community to which we belong.The evening will begin with a wine and cheese reception and book signing in the Lovejoy Auditorium lobby at 6:00 pm, followed by the lecture at 7:00 pm. A selection of Kimmerer’s books will be available for purchase. Please note that because alcohol will be served, the reception is open only to guests 21 and older.Auditorium capacity is limited, and reservations are required to reserve seats.
